The Living Rosary Presentation

The Living Rosary Presentation

Thank you to our sixth-grade students and their teachers, Ms. Kelly Healy and Ms. Sara Nearn, for their hard work in preparing for the Living Rosary presentation.

30 Oct, 2024

October is the month of the Holy Rosary, a time when the Church encourages us to reflect deeply on the life of Christ through the eyes of Our Lady. For over 10 years the St. Agnes 6th grade class has presented a Living Rosary, a unique and engaging prayer service that brings our whole community together.

The Living Rosary takes a great deal of preparation and practice. Our sixth-grade students present vignettes depicting the Mysteries of the Rosary, while SAA students in grades 1-5 lead the praying of each decade, and our cantors from SAA grade 5 sing.  Students in grades K-12 attend the presentations as well as educators, families, and even former faculty and alumnae.

“It's truly inspiring to see the sixth-grade girls bring the Mysteries of the Rosary to life through their dramatizations,” said Mrs. Beth Odom, Director of Dominican Catholic Identity. This tradition allows the students to connect more deeply with each story, understanding and expressing its meaning in a creative and memorable way. This prayer form not only enriches their own faith journey, but also brings the mysteries to life for the whole school community, making the rosary more accessible and impactful for everyone present.”

When asked what it was like to lead the Living Rosary, sixth-grade student Harper O’ Dell shared, “It was a lot of responsibility! We were nervous but it was still nice because it was still a prayer.” Her classmate Carter McDonald explained, “We really had to work together to make sure it was just right.”

Each year, the Living Rosary deepens the girls’ connection to faith and community. Younger students are captivated by its beauty, while older ones begin to reflect on its prayerful meaning. Sixth-grade classmates CeCe Hollis and Sophia Ormon both shared that they loved participating on stage and have looked forward to it, having watched the presentation for many years as younger students. Sophia said, “It was finally our turn.”

Thank you to our sixth-grade students and their teachers, Ms. Kelly Healy and Ms. Sara Nearn, for their hard work and commitment to fostering spiritual growth in our students!
