SAA Seniors Named Germantown Youth Excellence Award Winners

Congratulations to St. Agnes Academy Seniors Caroline Cassat and Katie Carayiannis who were named the Germantown Education Commission Youth Excellence Award recipients for January and February respectively. This award recognizes high school seniors who have made a significant difference in their own life, the lives of others, the school they attend and/or the Germantown community.

Caroline was recognized on Monday, February 10 at the Board of Mayor and Aldermen Meeting. A student at St. Agnes since 9th grade, Caroline is known for her perseverance and strong work ethic. She is a leader with a high regard for her fellow students.

Caroline is the goalkeeper for the SAA varsity soccer team and currently serves as Vice-President of the Student Government Association. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, National Art Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society and National Beta Club. She serves SAA as a Peer Mentor, Student Ambassador and Retreat Leader.  

Katie will be recognized at the Board of Mayor and Aldermen Meeting on February 24. She joined the St. Agnes community in 10th grade and is known for her positive spirit and her kind heart, which has endeared her to classmates.

Katie is a member of the SAA-CBHS Competition Cheer Team, that recently placed 7th in the nation in the Game Day Division. She is a member of the SAA yearbook staff and participates in the Liturgical Choir. Katie has been inducted into the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society, and the National Beta Club.

Youth Excellence Award winners receive a $100 cash prize and a small trophy. Monthly winners are invited to apply for the Germantown Youth Excellence Scholarship to be announced at the Annual Education Celebration in April.
