A Sneak Peek at the New Center for Excellence in Math and Science

01 May, 2024

It was an historic day on campus as students got their first glimpse inside our new Center for Excellence in Math and Science.  After a blessing by Fr. Nicholas, students and faculty toured the innovative space which will open up new opportunities for collaborative learning and teaching for our current students and generations to come.

This 33,000 square foot STEM center  includes 17 classrooms, four new science labs, and a flexible lab space - The Bobbie and Dave Ferraro Innovation Center. The building will house all math and science instruction for grades 7-12 and includes dedicated Lab space for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Throughout the summer  our team of Math and Science educators will set up classroom space, and the Center will be open for learning when our Stars & Suns return to campus in August.

We are already seeing the impact of this new space as our educators are re-imagining our STEM curriculum. Beginning in the ‘24-’25 school year, the Upper School will add AP Physics (C), a calculus-based, college-level physics course especially appropriate for students planning to specialize or major in one of the physical sciences or engineering. Our Biomedical curriculum is being redesigned, and more lab experiences are being added to all science classes. Educators also plan to utilize the new Math & Science Center to build on our current Robotics extracurricular program, VEX Robotics, expanding the offering to lower grades in the future.

The Math and Science Center  represents the largest investment in campus facilities since 2010.  To date, almost $17 million has been committed towards the Go Light the World capital campaign. The generosity of donors  has allowed us to complete the Math & Science building and exceed our $5 million dollar endowment goal.

Now, we set our sights towards the next phase of our Go Light the World Campaign - the fundraising for our Athletic Center!
